What it is

Bright is a terminal emulator under development by Moonbase 2090. The goal is a terminal whose text and layout are rendered with the care people expect from a modern web browser: crisp type, faithful color, and output that looks right.

These are design goals, not shipped features. The project is early, and this page will only describe what exists once it exists.

Built on Lumen

Bright is being built on the Lumen protocol, an open protocol with its own public specification. Building on an open protocol means the terminal’s behavior is meant to follow a documented spec rather than private conventions.

What does Lumen-based mean?

Bright is built on Lumen, an open protocol for terminals. The spec lives on the Lumen site, and other terminals can implement it too.
